We use Zoom as our video and voice chat platform

  • We use Zoom as our video/voice chat platform. Zoom works with all kinds of devices and operating systems. If you are interested, you can read more about Zoom's technical requirements, but you don't need to - for most people, it just works.

  • Students will be sent a password-protected Zoom invitation prior to the start of class.

  • For our overseas students, please note that there are a few countries or regions in which Zoom is not supported due to regulatory reasons. You can find an up-to-date list of these countries here.

Why we use video chat

The reason we need to an audio and video connection is that our courses are extremely interactive and energetic - there is a lot of participation involved.

Please note that if you do not have access to a webcam, speakers and a microphone, you will not be able to join our live online course.

Requirements for the best user experience

  • A laptop or desktop computer per each student.
  • An internet connection, i.e. broadband connection 3 Mbps or higher.
  • Zoom app is installed on your device – see technical requirements here and how to upgrade to the latest version of Zoom here.
  • Speakers/headphones and a microphone – built-in/USB/ Bluetooth. We recommend headphones with an integrated microphone.
  • A webcam or HD webcam - built-in/USB plug-in (many laptops have an integrated camera).
  • All Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems of the past 5 years are supported.

Other things to note

  • Ideally, the student should sit in a quiet room where there will be minimal distractions.
  • If you are under 18, please ensure that you have an adult on hand to help set up and tackle any troubleshooting. We will send out clear guides for all adults who are responsible for the students prior to the start of the course.
  • Zoom is supported on tablets and mobile devices – in our experience, the use of an iPad to experience our course may be adequate; however, we do not recommend the use of a mobile device to attend our live online course.
  • To ensure that you get the best out of the course, the most important thing is to have a reliable internet connection. Faster is of course better, but most home broadband internet plans will be sufficient (as long as it meets the minimum 3 Mbps+ requirement). You can test your internet speed by going to Speedtest.net.
